Enatsu Sota is over the top again in the second offering of I, Otaku from Seven Seas. In the first of several shorter-than-usual manga chapters, Sota and his friend, Kenji, are tricked by the Otadudo Headquarters owner, Tencho.
Tencho knows a certain boys love magazine editor who is searching for a couple of males to help inspire one of her artists. So Sota and Kenji find themselves trapped in a cage in the dark and forced to endure stress. The editor hopes that stress will bring about a love scene as an inspiration.
Somehow, inexplicably, the two manage to escape their tight situation, but not without a little sweating first.
In the second short chapter, a new character, Nia-chan, is introduced. Nia is in a club with Eri, Sota’s girlfriend. Nia overhears Eri telling Sota that she will go to see the Papico movie with him. Nia confronts Eri, fearful that she will miss the club meeting the next day, when Eri is expected to lead the club.
As it turns out, Nia-chan has more than the club’s interests at heart during the confrontation. And she nearly chides Eri for her decision to placate her otaku boyfriend. What could Eri see in Sota, Nia-chan wonders.
Nia-chan’s full motives are revealed later, of course, and much to the frustration of Eri, who simply wishes that there would be a lot less stress in her life.
In other stories, Tencho leads Sota to a cosplay café and then conspires with him to urge Eri to get a job there. But when she does, someone else follows suit and a big confrontation ensues. The aftermath is a short arc involving Sota, Tencho and Kenji as they work off the debt they owe to the café.
Others revolve around Sota learning how to raise an otaku child, the three guys visiting a rival otaku store owner in the hospital, and Sota’s fun day on the first of the new year.

The second volume is full of laughs and giggles, but some of the stories seem a bit rushed. It is still a very fun read, though.
