Akira is back for some more relationship awkwardness and gender-switching shenanigans in Gacha Gacha: The Next Revolution, volume 7.
In the first story, Haruna demurely shies away when everyone asks her when her birthday is. Anju came around and invited everyone to her birthday, but Haruna is reticent about hers. She goes shopping on a trip to the mall with Akira to find that perfect gift for Anju.
During the course of their excursion, however, Akira happens upon a small detail that embarrasses Haruna — her birthday is today. Unfortunately, the fact that Haruna lies about when her birthday is, frankly, stupid, and a fairly weak point on which the plot hinges.
The next story is a ho-hum tale about Akira and the girls trying to sell cake during Christmastime.
In the next story, Akira and Yurika finally get to see some of their relationship develop. It’s Valentine’s Day and Yurika, Anju and Haruna decide to give chocolate to Akira. Yurika, however, decides to include just a little bit extra in the package she gives to him.
Unfortunately for both of them, that something extra turns out to be a bit of a block for Akira in his infatuation for Yurika. Akira takes that to mean one thing while Yurika definitely meant another. With their signals crossed, the two experience a warming — and embarrassing — event that could change their relationship.
After sorting through the mess, however, the two manage to mend their relationship and the misunderstanding.
The final two stories are a mixed bag. The last one is simply a way to show more of the physical side of the girls. Yet the one before that is an interesting story about Akira and love that manages to be the best of the volume. It helps to move along some of the relationships, something that really helps to make the volume bearable.
