Shiki Tsukai Volume 3 (To-ru Zekuu and Yuna Takanagi)

Del Rey Manga

Shiki Tsukai Volume

Genre: Action

Age Rating: Teen

Price: $10.95

Akira Kizuki is destined to become the Shinra, the magical hero who can control the forces of nature. But he hasn’t been able to harness his powers yet — if, indeed, he truly has them. And his enemies are strong and certainly aren’t going to hide.

In fact, two beautiful teenage girls are busy shredding apart humans while Akira is trying to find the truth. And those shiki tsukai are not to be reckoned with.

Meanwhile, Akira is coming to grips with being Shinra, yet he continues to feel distanced from his non-shiki tsukai friends. And it’s nice to see another side of Akira’s life being developed in this volume.

But it seems to be a bit coincidental as Akira is introduced to someone who seems to be a new recurring character who fills roles in Akira’s two distinct sides.

Nevertheless, the introduction of this character is what spurs on the rest of the action in the volume, as one of Akira’s friends is taken by a spring shiki tsukai and Akira’s companions and followers try to bring the friend back to safety.

By doing so, they fall into the plans laid out by those spring shiki tsukai, who have a few surprises in store for them. But Akira is not afraid, and with the help of Koyomi, who can turn herself into a weapon Akira can wield, the boy sets out to free his friend. And when confronted by the spring shiki tsukai, Akira finds some extra determination to foil their plans.

7.5

Summing Up:

The action continues and we get a bit of character development, but it does not give the volume enough.
