Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service Volume 6 (Eiji Otsuka and Housui Yamazaki)
Dark Horse
Genre Horror
Age Rating 18+
Price $10.95
There's rivalry all around when Kurosagi finds its rather loose business model challenged by a postman who guarantees the next world on time! But it's not only the clean-cut trying to compete--the oddball duo calling itself the Shirosagi Corpse Cleaning Service aren't just out to eat Kurosagi's wormy lunch, they're going to start revealing trade secrets--namely, the hideous history of the ghost which haunts Karatsu!
Six volumes deep into this flat-out weird series, Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service delivers the goods so to speak. First off is the stylish cover and we have x-rays of the characters as the theme for this volume as well as a decomposed body (complete with flies). As for the art in the interior, the quality remains consistent with the previous volumes although there's nothing particularly remarkable here.
Story-wise, there's a big change of pace here and for me is a welcome treat. The first chapter is the usual stand-alone story with an eccentric take that is Otsuka. Then we have some mini-story arcs, the first of which concerns the Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service crew. I just hope this lead gets developed and doesn't turn into the X-Files series were nothing is truly resolved. The second story arc is a side-story that tackles the protagonist Karatsu's mystical ally that takes place during the Meiji era.
Overall, if you're like me and enjoyed the stand-alone stories in the previous volumes that are, quite frankly, getting repetitive, the change in this volume is a big welcome. I haven't been this excited about the series since Vol. 2 and this leaves me eagerly anticipating the next release (that hopefully continues the threads established here).

Summing Up:
Fans who've stayed this long with the series will appreciate the shift in pacing. Otherwise, this is one of the more bizarre manga out there.
