Viz stands on top this week with their massive wave of shonen and shojo titles. But you can't deny the goodness of so many of them! The Picks:

Alex Hoffman's Pick:
This week, we have a few good choices. The continuation of Twin Spica is a must read, and I encourage anyone who hasn't gotten a look at the series to get a copy of the first volume as well. It's quite excellent. My second pick is Pig Bride, vol. 5, which represents some of the best in manwha (IMO) that's in print right now. It's a fun romantic comedy that will keep you guessing.

Justin Colussy-Estes' Pick:
Several good choices this week, and some to be avoided (I haven't seen the Clique manga, but the novels are truly, truly terrible--like lessons in sadism given by teen girls drunk on the madness of crowds). After reading this amazing article by Jason Thompson and reading Ultimo 1? I'm hooked for the long haul: Ultimo vol. 2 it is!

Amy Grocki's Pick:
Lots to pick from Viz this week but I've been curious about reading Clique The Manga. A guilty pleasure, besides yaoi of course, is reading some of the Harlequin manga adapations of cliched romance stories. This looks like a nice quick easy read for a relaxing summer day.

Lori Henderson's Pick:
Too much good stuff this week! Nana, Natsume's Book of Friends, Pig Bride, Time and Again, One Piece! I'm going broke this week for sure! But my pick has to go to Twin Spica. Vertical hit the proverbial home run with the drama in this title. I only wish the volumes weren't so short!

Del Rey makes a brief appearance with two omnibus titles as well as finally continuing some of their new licenses from last year. And Vertical re-releases Apollo's Song in two easy to hold softbacks. The List:DARK HORSE..." [Read More]

"Short list this week, though its better than last week's non-existent list. I hope everyone enjoyed our re-readable list. This week mostly features the smaller publishers. You can't really call Dark Horse small, but they keep their manga selection to a select few. Kodansha shouldn't be called small, but their releases have been disappointing and slow to say the least. With a company that has as large of a selection of titles as they do, you would expect to see something that..." [Read More]

"Alex Hoffman: Normally, the Manga Village crew goes over the list of newly released comics and give you our manga picks for the week. Since the releases for this week are a little... sparse, we've decided to talk about the series we love to re-read.One of the things I love about manga trade paperbacks is that you can re-read the series as long as it stays on your shelf...." "With San Diego Comic Con starting this week, publishers seem more interested in preparing for the con than releasing books, but the new big two of manga publishing still has titles coming out this week. Yen Press' selection is just as varied with manga, manhwa and light novels, including Spice and Wolf vol 2.The List:VIZ MEDIADragon Ball Z Volume 8 GN (VIZB..." [Read More]

"Eep! It's a short list again! But what's this? Another Kodansha volume in less than a year? The End really is near! Does this mean they might finish Akira before the 2012? No way! Netcomics makes a rare appearance with some print copies of their titles, if you like to read old school. And Vertical finally releases the much anticipated Peepo Choo, from one of the few Americans to get a series published in Japan. What will our reviewers choose? Scroll down to find out!..." "Tokyopop makes a showing of their titles just as they start their "America's Greatest Otaku" tour at Anime Expo this week. CMX's second and last batch of times comes out right on the edge of the July 1 deadline. An Astroboy Omnibus from Dark Hourse sound intriguing and the price is very attractive. "Wow, they're right when they say selection has dropped, but that doesn't mean the quality has! Bandai and Seven Seas has some novels out, and Yen Press has the next volume of Hero Tales, but the Big Dog this week is Viz with some great Sig titles, as well as the final Fushigi Yugi VIZBIG edition. It's kind of appropriate though, that Afterschool Charisma is coming out the week of Father's Day. Daddy!! (Get it to find out what that means.)..." [Read More]

"The new releases list is getting smaller and smaller as more companies go under, or worse, have the carpet pulled from under them. That is what's happened to CMX, the manga imprint from DC. On Tuesday, DC announced the imprint would stop printing as of July 1, 2010. This was obviously a surprise to even the CMX crew, as the CMX website had just been updated with new titles on Monday. But even that is gone now, and we all mourn. In hap..." [Read More]

"Small list, BIG releases! Tokyopop only has one title, but it's one that the mangasphere has been excited about. Viz brings out some of it's Signature and Shonen Sunday titles, with Biomega being the most outrageous. Gotta love a talking bear with a hook-hand, and a machine gun. Yen Press has a long list of good stuff, including a new Black Butler, the debut of the new CLAMP series Kobato, and another debut of My Girlfriend is a Geek. It..." [Read More]
